The Lapland painter Andreas Alariesto, born in Sompio in Finnish Lapland, is 75 years old, a self-taught man who has devoted his years of retirement to his unique art. His works bring to life the colorful Lapland of ancient lore, with its Lapp villages, bear hunts, sorcerers and spooks. These paintings have been acclaimed as examples of an astonishingly fresh primitive talent.
This volume contains 35 four-color and 22 black-and-white illustrations. The illustrations are accompanied by small tales and recollections by the painter.
