Aristofanes (n. 446-n. 386 eaa.) oli kreikkalainen komediakirjailija, jonka yksitoista meille kokonaisina säilynyttä näytelmää ovat varsinainen aarreaitta. Niistä ovat ammentaneet innoitustaan lukuisat eri aikoina eläneet kirjailijat. Aristofanesta pidetään vanhan komedian merkittävimpänä edustajana.
