Vuonna 1903 Pohjoismaiden vanhin valokuvauskerho järjesti Suomen ensimmäisen julkisen valokuvausnäyttelyn Ateneumissa Helsingissä. Yksi osallistujista oli Alexander Nikiforow. Yli sata vuotta myöhemmin hänen sukulaisensa, valokuvaaja Christian Westerback, löysi Nikiforowin työt unohdetusta salkusta.
