I birgittas bilderbok får vi ta del av ett tidigare opublicerat album med fotografier och verser av signaturen farbror d., närmare bestämt modernisten Elmer Diktonius. Albumet har tillkommit omkring 1930 och sammanställdes som gåva till den lilla flickan Birgitta Enckell. Den barnkäre Diktonius var god vän till Birgittas familj och fadern Rabbe Enckell. Det unika med bilderboken är att den är skriven explicit för ett barn och att den är både en lekfull absurdistisk fotobok och en diktsamling. Landskapet som fångats på bild är åländsk sommaridyll, som var Diktonius sommarviste.
