Språkstudier i Kairo och en resa längs Nilen till Övre Egypten beskrivs i orientalisten och forskningsresanden G.A. Wallins brev och dagböcker i detta tredje band av utgåvan. Syftet med Wallins forskningsresa var att studera bl.a. arabiska dialekter och stamförhållanden, men under Nilfärden fick han upp ögonen också för det forna Egypten. Med på resan var även den österrikiske konstnären Hubert Sattler som tecknade och målade de fornlämningar som Wallin beskrev i ord.
