In 1975 the Graphica Creativa Triennale was established in Jyväskylä. This event marked the beginning of the rise of graphic art in Central Finland and it is for its graphic art that the province is now best known.
The last decade has seen art free itself from the straitjacket of isms and this new vitality is reflected in pictorial art, sculpture, graphics and photography, both as individual art forms and in their combination.
In this book Hannu Castrén, freelance writer and artist, presents some 30 prominent artists. The book is also a tribute to the art of Central Finland and the experiences it has generated.
