Kari Suomalainen on Suomen tunnetuimpia pilapiirtäjiä, jonka oivaltavat piirrokset ja osuvat tekstit ovat viihdyttäneet ja herättäneet ajatuksia vuosikymmenten ajan. Following the advice of J. W. von Goethe, Kari has never done anything which he hasn't enjoyed. Already as a schoolboy he was drawing a caricature of his maths teacher on his test paper instead of the triangles designated.
Kari Suomalainen, now 74, attended the Helsinki Art Academy, joined the artillery during the Second World War and doubled as a propaganda artist. After the war he worked as a cartoonist for Finland's largest newspaper for over 40 years. Around 50 books have been published on his work and he's still working. Kari has also been awarded numerous national and international prizes. He keeps his works in his own museum in Visavuori.
