Villa Gyllenberg Helsingin Kuusisaaressa on nykyisin koti- ja taidemuseo, mutta se oli vuosina 1938-1977 - lähes neljänkymmenen vuoden ajan - Signe ja Ane Gyllenbergin yksityiskoti. Kirjan runsas kuvitus ja tarinat kuvaavat elävästi Gyllenbergien keräilytoimintaa ja kotimuseon syntyä sekä sitä, millaista elämä Villa Gyllenbergissä oli. Rakennuksen arkkitehtuuri, puutarha, sisustus sekä taide- ja antiikkikokoelma kertovat ajastaan - muuttuvista elämäntavoista, arvoista ja kauneusihanteista. Villa Gyllenberg - Koti Kuusisaaressa tuo myös paljon uutta tietoa kauniissa luonnonympäristössä sijaitsevan tunnelmallisen huvilan arvokkaista antiikkiesineistä ja kalusteista, joita ei tätä aiemmin ole tutkittu. Kotimuseossa esillä olevaan taidekokoelmaan kuuluu suomalaista kultakauden taidetta ja vanhaa eurooppalaista taidetta 1500- ja 1700-luvuilta.

Villa Gyllenberg in the Helsinki district of Kuusisaari is known today as an art museum and historic residence, but from 1938 to 1977 - for nearly forty years - it was the private home of Signe and Ane Gyllenberg. Accompanied by a rich compliment of illustrations, this volume tells the colourful story of how the Gyllenbergs became collectors, how the museum came into existence, and what daily life was like in the villa. The architecture, garden, interiors, art collection and antiques mirror their period and the changing lifestyles, values, and aesthetic tastes of their day. Villa Gyllenberg - Koti Kuusisaaressa (Villa Gyllenberg - At Home in Kuusisaari) shares a wealth of previously unpublished findings on this distinctive, scenically located villa and its priceless collection of antiques and furniture. The art collection on display in the villa represents a selection of masterpieces from the Golden Age of Finnish art and old European art from the 16th to the 18th century.
