Berliinin tunnetuimman rannan, Wannseen, lippuluukulla on vihaisia ihmisiä, Ranta on suljettu siellä tapahtuneen murhan vuoksi. Uhri on Berliinissä asuva 45-vuotias ATK-insinööri Kari Hietikko. Eikä aikaakaan, kun Mannerheimitieltä löytyy toinen uhri, täsmälleen samanlaisesta surmaasennosta.
Erikoisyksikön tutkija Lassi Lehtiön maatessa Jorvissa sairaalabakteerin nujertamana, Riitta Vanhanen lähetetään Berliiniin aloittamaan tutkimukset, jotka vievät hänet eri puolille Eurooppaa johtolankoinaan valokuva 25 vuoden takaa ja neljä lohikäärmesormusta.
