Urban landscapes, historical city views, and the stripped-down forms of everyday architecture shaped the artistic work of Ragnar and Hilding Ekelund. This book explores the brothers' aesthetic development and their influence on Helsinki and southern Finland's art and architecture.
Det byggda landskapet, de historiska stadsvyerna i Sydeuropa och vardagsarkitekturens avskalade formspråk har starkt influerat konstnären och författaren Ragnar Ekelund och arkitekten Hilding Ekelund i deras livsverk. Grunden till bröderna Ekelunds estetik lades under deras skoltid i Borgå. Småstadens pittoreska gator och gränder gjorde ett outplånligt intryck på de båda bröderna, som hade tillbringat sin barndom i de lantliga landskapen i Kangasniemi i södra Savolax. Ragnar Ekelund lät sig i sin konst och poesi inspireras av sina utlandsresor och av stadsbilden i det växande Helsingfors. Till Hilding Ekelunds främsta arbeten hör Konsthallen, Tölö kyrka och Olympiabyn i Helsingfors och flera offentliga byggnader i Karis i Västnyland.
