String Quartet A Minor

Jean Sibelius' second string quartet reveals his mature compositional approach and mastery of string writing. The full score was completed only after lost pages were found decades later.
In this, the second of Sibelius' quartets, the composer moves much closer to his mature compositional style. The work shows evidence of his creative use of musical form and of his close familiarity and sympathy with string writing. The complete score for this piece was reconstructed only after missing pages were discovered in 1990 in the archives his physician brother.
