String Quartet E Flat Major

Composed in 1885, this string quartet embodies a cheerful Viennese classical style and reveals early signs of the composer's unique, romantic voice.
Suitable for: For violin and string instrument enthusiasts and fans of classical music.
This work from 1885 is one of the earliest by the composer to be preserved intact. It was written between his school years in Hämeenlinna and his move to Helsinki. It is cheerful and cast in a Viennese classical mould, reminiscent of Haydn. It does, however, contain signs of the composer's budding originality and youthful romanticism.
