Tänä päivänä perinteisiä mielisairaaloita ei juurikaan ole, ne on ajettu alas tai lakkautettu. Suurin osa psykiatrista hoitoa tarvitsevista on ns. avohoidossa. Läheiset ovat heidän kanssaan ymmällä ja aivan avuttomia. Kirjassani kerron, millaista hoito oli monien kokemusteni perusteella. Olin vuonna 1968-1985 välisenä aikana tuon tuosta hoidettavana näissä sairaaloissa.
