Vadja pulmalaulud / Votic Wedding Songs

Tormis' extended choral cycle Forgotten Peoples is founded on the motifs of the Karelians and several other Balto-Finnic peoples. In this, the second part the composer draws on wedding songs and rituals transcribed from the last living exponents of these cultures. He follows the sequence of the wedding rites from the whisking of the bride to post-ceremony nostalgia and laments of the elders.
