This book is composed of two parts. It begins and ends with writings focused on the professor himself, whereas the main part of the book consists of articles which shed light on the subject of European ethnology from various angles. The authors have different views on the field in question; this Festschrift presents their own ideas and thoughts about ethnology in the past, in the present and in the future as well as depicts Professor Lönnqvist's career as an European ethnologist.
