The year before last Andreas Alariesto experienced a sudden rise to fame. Not a newspaper or periodical appeared without some article or interview with this previously unknown man from Lapland. Not a single adverse phrase was printed in appreciations of his lapland of Lapland. With his popular naivety, his genuineness and sincerity he captivated both art critic and layman alike.

Recording the Lapp ways and tradition has long been a heart-felt task for Andreas, and of the same mind his paint brush began to dance with increased vigour over the canvas. Thus, once more, the Lapland of the old legends springs forward in bright hues: we are shown its landscapes, villages and dwellings, its bears, lemmings, eagle's nests and steep cliffs. We are shown its people, their activities and beliefs, legendary beings from Father Christmas to Kevitsa's own god. Every picture is supplemented by a commentary by Andreas himself.
