Max Jakobson : Finland survived : an account of the Finnish-Soviet winter war, 1939-1940

Max Jakobson (b. 1923) is one of Finland's leading experts on international affairs. He has served as Political Director at the Finnish Foreign Ministry and in 1965–72 as Ambassador to the United Nations. In 1971 he was the candidate of the Scandinavian governments to the post of Secretary-General of the U.N. In 1975 he resigned from the diplomatic service in order to head the Council of Economic Organizations in Finland, a body representing all sectors of the economy.

Max Jakobson is the author of six books on Finland's foreign relations and diplomatic history. They have had a wide popular appeal in Finland, and several have also been translated into other languages. His articles on international politics appear regularly in several European newspapers.
