Niklas Bruun : Intellectual property beyond rights

The relevance and impact of intellectual property rights (IPR) have grown significantly in the new global economic order. The IPR University Center was the coordinator of six research projects in the IPR area financed by the Academy of Finland 2000-2004.

These projects presented their main results and entered into a dialogue with leading international researchers at the Conference INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY BEYOND RIGHTS in October 2004. The themes for the workshops were IPR and digitalisation, IPR and globalisation and Transformations in IPR.

This book reflects the deliberations from the discussions within the framework of the international conference. The publication follows the structure of the conference. The first part contains the main arguments and reasoning of the international keynote speakers including Professor Hans Ullrich, Professor Marianne Levin, Professor Bernt Hugenholtz, Director Ulf Petursson, Professor Annette Kur and Professor Hans Petter Graver. The second part presents a selection of the most interesting presentations of the workshops.

The conference and this publication indicate that there is a strong and promising young generation of researchers in economics and law in the Finnish academic milieu. This book is necessary for everyone who wants to follow the latest developments in the IP area. It is of interest for academics and practitioners alike.
