Y. Ahmavaara : The cybernetic theory of development : mathematical models for a re-evaluation of the is-ought problem

The book is an introduction to mathematical cybernetics, intended for social scientists, and given from the point of view of self-steering processes. The cybernetic theory of these processes gives a new perspective to the old Kantian and Humean dichotomy of existence and value, 'is' and 'ought'. In this perspective the dichotomy in its old form must be rejected, and the existence in principle of objective human values admitted. The strong Anti-Positivism of obtained results makes them to resemble ideas so far presented only in connection of Marxist theory. The writer considers himself neither a Marxist nor a philosopher, but he points out the similarities between some verbal statements of Marxist philosophy and some mathematical results of cybernetic theory.

The present book is a technical preparation for a second one, on social cybernetics, which shall suggest the design for an exact social science based on cybernetic method.
